Concept house for Lot 5

Lot five is a gently sloping site on a small bluff. To the South the site looks out over the historic railroad corridor (now the bike trail), the recently restored railroad depot, and a pond. To the Northwest, a view of the town can be glimpsed through the trees. A dramatic site, it was on the cliffs below that it is claimed the first lead was found in Mineral Point, and is in fact the origin of the towns name.

A concept design for this site positions the house in the center of the lot, it's most narrow area, maximizing the front and back yard space. Partially built into the hillside, from the Easterly entrance the house has a minimal profile, whereas the South side is expansive, connected to the landscape and open to the light and view.
